Online security threats for companies are constantly becoming more complex and more costly. In 2017, Wombat reported 76% of organizations experienced a phishing attack, Symantec noted an average of 16 malicious emails per month, and business email compromise attacks alone cost companies $676 million according to the FBI.
To keep companies running without all the overhead, Google has introduced the G Suite Security center Investigation tool. With this tool, administrators can investigate incidents at scale by identifying security issues, triage threats to users/devices/data, and act fast by applying bulk actions against the threats.
How it works: G Suite closely monitors devices connected to and data within its services. This combined with Google’s powerful data and search tools grant administrators insanely fast access to the information they need to keep their domains safe and secure.
How to use: All administrators for Enterprise domains have access to this tool. Simply go to the Admin console > Security > Investigation tool. From there you can look broadly at: Device log events, Device events, Drive log events, Gmail log events, Gmail messages, or Users login activity. If there are specifics to a threat, you can do a deep dive by adding additional conditions on the reports.
Previously, when malicious emails and attachments were widely distributed to users, administrators had to communicate and trust users to avoid traps. With G Suite’s Investigation tool, administrators can quickly expose threats and send them directly to trash. No need to rely on communications and security conscious users.
